Site & AI-Search Scorecard

A review of falconslanding.org as a search engine, an AI answer engine and a prospective resident read it. Six subscores, three findings we could verify in your own page source, and a 90-day sequence.

Illustrative review based on public pages and Semrush data, 5 October 2026

Section 01The score

Scored out of 100 from six weighted subscores. The gap is not design. Falcons Landing presents well. The gap is that the page carrying your single biggest story this year cannot be indexed.

Your own words, Our History, falconslanding.org/about. Thirty years on, Hillside House, The Johnson Center and West Falls Center welcome all members from the local community, and independent living is now open to all older adults age 62 and better. The founding sentence still holds. The search footprint has not caught up with the second half of the story.

The pattern that matters. Every one of the fifteen highest-traffic organic keywords is a variation on your own name: falcons landing, falcons landing virginia, falcons landing sterling va, johnson center falcons landing, west falls center at falcons landing. The site ranks first for all fifteen. That is the easy half.

Not one of those fifteen is a term a Loudoun County family would type if they had never heard of Falcons Landing. The branded search is won and the unbranded search is not being contested, which is the exact shape of a demand problem the month after eligibility opens to people who do not yet know your name.

Section 03Three findings, with evidence

Each of these came out of a page we read on 5 October 2026. Each is checkable in a browser in under a minute.

01

The Independent Living page tells Google not to index it, and points its canonical tag at a quiz vendor

Critical

falconslanding.org/independent-living-virginia is the page that carries cottages, apartments and The Terrace Homes, and it is the commercial landing spot for the eligibility change. Its head section contains a robots noindex directive. It also contains two competing canonical tags, the second of which hands authority to opinionstage.com, the vendor behind the embedded floor plan quiz.

From the live page source, 5 October 2026<meta content="noindex" name="robots">
<link href="https://www.falconslanding.org/independent-living-virginia" rel="canonical">
<link href="https://www.opinionstage.com/page/4c2ff397-eebc-452b-af4a-8954705bee42" rel="canonical">

The consequence is visible in the keyword data. Of the fifteen top organic keywords, exactly one resolves to this page, and it is falcons landing photos. The independent living page is not earning independent living searches because it has asked not to be eligible for them.

02

Thirty answered questions, invisible to AI answer engines

High

Your pages already carry long, well-written question and answer sets. The Independent Living page runs roughly thirty of them. The assisted living and memory care pages each run thirty more, covering costs, staff ratios, the transition process, pets, licensing and visiting hours. This is exactly the material an AI assistant wants when a family asks it a question about Loudoun County senior living.

Structured data present on /independent-living-virginiaapplication/ld+json → { "@type": "WebPage" }
FAQPage schema → not present
Question / Answer schema → not present

Only a generic WebPage object is declared. With no FAQPage markup, the answers are decoration rather than data. Adding the markup does not require rewriting a single sentence of the copy you already have, and it is the shortest path from where you are to being quoted by an answer engine.

03

Four H1 headings on the page, and two of them are a form label

Medium

A page gets one H1, and it should name the thing being sold. On the Independent Living page the four H1 elements read, in source order, as follows. The phrase “Independent Living” appears in none of them, and the first two are the same duplicated form prompt, trailing space and all.

H1 elements, in source order1. Complete this form to learn more or to schedule a visit to tour !
2. Complete this form to learn more or to schedule a visit to tour !
3. The Falcons Difference.
4. Find your Falcons Floor Plan!

Alongside this, the homepage video tour hero carries the alt text aerial view of the village at woods edge, which names a different community altogether. Both are small edits with outsized effect: the H1 tells a search engine what the page is for, and alt text is one of the few places a crawler reads your campus in plain language.

Section 04The 90-day sequence

Ordered so the cheapest structural repairs land first and nothing waits on a redesign. Lift figures are illustrative ranges for a community of this size and search profile, not a forecast.

WindowWorkWhy it comes hereIllustrative lift
Days 1 to 7Remove the noindex directive from the Independent Living page. Delete the opinionstage canonical. Request indexing.One line of head markup is holding back the page behind your biggest announcement in thirty years. Nothing downstream matters until it can be found.Page becomes eligible
Days 7 to 21One H1 per page, naming the service. Rewrite the duplicated form prompts as plain labels. Fix the woods edge alt text and audit the rest.Cheap, safe, and it makes the next step land harder. Also removes a visible copy error from your highest traffic page.Clarity for crawlers
Days 14 to 35Wrap the existing question and answer sets in FAQPage and Question schema on independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and short-term rehab.The copy already exists and is already good. This is markup work only, and it is what gets a community cited inside an AI answer.AI answer eligibility
Days 21 to 45Build a dedicated eligibility page: who qualifies for independent living at 62 and better, and the separate rule that Hillside House, The Johnson Center and West Falls Center are open to all with no military or government background needed.Your eligibility is the most unusual thing about Falcons Landing and the single most searched question about it. Today the answer is split across a homepage block, a Priority Club page and two health services pages.+10 to 18% form starts
Days 30 to 60Cut the third-party script load. Consolidate to one form vendor, retire the duplicate forms, and defer the quiz embed so it loads on interaction.51 scripts across 11 hosts is the main reason mobile feels slow on a page that otherwise looks excellent.Faster first paint
Days 45 to 75Build the unbranded content set: life plan community Northern Virginia, continuing care Loudoun County, memory care Potomac Falls, assisted living Sterling VA.Fifteen of fifteen top keywords are your own name. The newly eligible prospect does not know your name yet, so there is no branded search for them to perform.New non-branded terms
Days 60 to 90Stand up one reporting view across the continuum: inquiry source through tour through deposit through move-in, by level of care and by eligibility route, refreshed nightly.Independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and short-term rehab each have their own referral pattern, and the civilian and military routes now behave differently. Measuring them together is what tells you which half of the eligibility change is working.One number per week

What we would look at first

Falcons Landing is not a community with a presentation problem. The awards wall is real, the CARF-CCAC accreditation is held by a small minority of continuing care retirement communities, and the copy on the About page is better than most in the sector. The problem is narrower and more fixable: the shop window is lit and the door is locked.

We do modernization of websites and deep analytics. On this engagement the modernization is a two-week repair, not a rebuild, and the analytics is the part that keeps paying: one view of the continuum that shows whether the newly eligible civilian inquiry behaves like the military inquiry, at which point in the funnel they diverge, and what that means for how you staff admissions across five service lines on one campus.
